23 August 2018

I splash in wild abandon
a trillion blues
across the canvas of my mind.
They stretch and blend
and I delight in their streaks
and swirls and curls and whirls and twirls.
And then it is a forestful of greens
of rain-washed leaves
in sun-patterned shade
from golden light
to mysterious dark.
And then the hues
cry out for yellow
and I acquiesce in dance-delight.
I sweep the brush across my mind
and new colours burst into sight.
And there they are, the reds and browns
and shades of orange and purple
and pink and mauve.
Each have their moods and moments
and emotions . . .
And at last, to the colours of exhausted smiles,
I lay me down to sleep and fall
into instantaneous colour-splashed dreams
to feed my rejuvenation and refresh
my waking to a wild sunrise.
