Visions
By Paul Wilson

Visions come and go like
yesterdays dreams haunting me
Raindrops falling from the sky
wash away visions I no longer see

The door to another world opens
revealing faces of strangers never seen before
The door closes… shutting out visions
my jagged mind laying on the floor

Contorted visions, deamons from the other world
come and go not knowing what they mean to me
I pray someday these visions
will set me free

Quite night… sound asleep my mind is resting
when suddenly visions appear out of thin air
Leading me thru the darkness
onward…onward to their lair

Afraid of what I might see
not knowing what I will find
I close my eyes in disbelief
wishing I was blind

Awful faces all around speaking
words I can’t understand
Is this a nightmare or fantasy
my body sinks slowly in quicksand

The sky turns red as fire
walls closing in on me
Faces of strangers surround me
I pray God… please set me free

Visions appear once again as a hand
reaches out to me… not sure what I should do
In the darkness I grab the hand
and to my surprise the vision I see is you

A comforting end to the torment.

I always like the way you express yourself, Paul,
whether through your experiences or your imagination.

Well structured poetry, pal.

Bluesy...Thanks for reading and your reply.
Like you said my imagination does run wild sometimes. I guess that's because of my life in the sixty's. Take care my friend...Paul

Loved the ending, my friend. So smoothly entered and so fully centered.

Enjoyed the whole read, of course, and my dreams (don't know if I'd call them visions as I've yet to have one be provably prophetic) are very real and livid.

Wonderful piece by you . . .

I read this and could very much relate to all of it...the visions, the way they can destabilize a person's entire life...the faces.  What I didn't see coming was the ending.

I know everyone sees and interprets poetry differently.  In my mind, I could see someone dear you to pulling you from a nightmare here and being the first thing you see upon waking...or, at the same time I can see them being the first thing you see after passing from this life.

Quite interesting and beautiful expression, Paul.  There is much pain in today's world...  It's people like us who carry it, and are unwilling to let go, who bring such vision causing mental anguish upon ourselves...(I had been told).  I can attest that it is true today.  There is peace in release.
