I parked my car outside of her home
My heart was pumping with the mere thought of her moans
When she heard my car pull up, her heart raced for more
She patiently waited for my tap on her door

I got out of my car and gently pushed the door closed
Making so little noise, like a soft, delicate rose
She could hear the creak of the old wooden gate
Afraid it would slam, and her parents would wake

I softened the sound of the old worn-out catch
So dark was the walkway, I lighted a match
She saw a flicker of light through her window’s glass pane
The wavering flame of my match making a soft golden flame

I blew out the match through a pursing of lips
My heart beat so fast, but my grip didn’t slip
She came to the door and opened it gently
There we met once again, but far from just friendly

There we were, she and I, together once more
The night before was the same, as we laid on the floor
We made love to each other, so gentle, so true
Our hearts linked together, within soft shades of blue

Our love was made to burn hot as a flare
As we looked in our eyes, it was clear, ‘we’re a pair’
We gathered our clothes and crept out the door
Fired up our ride and hit the pedal to the floor

Packed an iron for income and a blade just for laughs
Made enough for our livin’ and a little for gas
Ran with the wind, but the wind turned against us
Sold all our heat to the faster-buck fences

Started life over, but over ‘weren’t good’
Tried to settle ourselves in a quiet neighborhood
But bad travels with you wherever you go
As this, she and I would soon come to know

It all finally went down in a big Texas town
A day filled with noise, batter and frowns
A big chunk of life we had to give up
As they hauled us away in two different trucks

I made the slide in ten and they let me go free,
‘cause the trigger was pulled by my sweet love, Linny
So I’ve waited and written each day of my life
To keep the love fresh between me and my ‘wife’

Now, a quarter-century has come and gone by
Still, our love shines so brightly in both of our eyes
I’ve not for another but to her have been true
The cabin is happy and no longer blue

My baby’s coming home, after so many years
Having mastered the art of mastering her fears
When she hears my car pull up, her heart will race for more
As she patiently waits for my tap on her door…

“Soon, My Darling...”Soon”

Bluesy,
The anticipation must be driving you crazy now that time is getting so short. You are a horse of a different color to have stayed the course so long. I'm sure all that confusion about the west end of the eastbound horse is ponytail related. You know I wish you two more than the best. ~L

I've always said you had a keen intuition.
It's at my waist, Miss Lori, and so shall it be until she cuts it off.
People around me finally stopped mentioning it...

So don't you start!!

When it finally comes off this summer, Miss Lori, it'll be on its way to "Locks of Love"...

It'll never hit the floor.
(Unless I tip over before that time... )
