The snow fell as predicted… First it rained. Then that turned to mush as it fell from the sky. Big fat flakes covered the ground in white and the streets in slush. Those in a hurry were apt to end up in ditches by the side of the road. Some drove out on their own, others got towed. The snow in the high beams looked like stars at warp speed from sci-fi scenes. The drive home from our Hong Kong Buffet meal was entertainingly surreal. There was no wind to speak of, the snow fell straight and flat. As each flake hit the ground, you could hear it splat. It was the loudest snow I ever heard. The sound was rather pleasing. It wasn’t too cold outside, just below freezing. Our home is in the zone to get inches from 2-4. We’ve gotten about two so far, I doubt we’ll get much more. I had to laugh at the silly people that were shocked by the snow. It is winter here, you’d think they’d know. I’ll admit the weather did a bit of a tweak. It was sixty degrees here the first of the week. LGR(C)1/12/19 |

From one extreme to another, that's good ol' winter weather I used to take the wheels out and fishtail in the first fresh snow for practice...just to renew the feeling. I-70 through many states is known for its black ice. There's no amount of practice that'll prepare many for that. Been there a time two as well...so stay safe out there, Miss Lori. I remember that encounter of your a couple of winters ago. ...just bein' Bluesy |

Wow Bluesy! You remembered my crash! I'm impressed! I don't drive in snow and ice if I can keep from it. I drag the sheriff out of bed and have him drive me to work. It saves me from the white knuckle adrenaline dump that leaves me exhausted at work. Thanks for remembering. ~L |

I also seem to recall this little episode of yours, Lori. That is a crazy bit of weather . . . sixty degrees the first of the week . . . then a hell of a snowstorm. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
