By Fire's Glow~

So many things fill my spirit,
I love creating,writing,gardening,
long walks among the trees,
owls & eagles, pups and cats,
the taste sensation
of hot & cold at the same time,
the brain-bubbles of small children
who say the funniest things,
along with their cut-to-the-chase thinking
of the most pure and wise.

Give me a good thunderstorm,
the outcry of Autumn,
wind in my face,
and home-made fudge at Christmas-time.
But to narrow it down...
Good Comfortable Conversation
By the Glow of a Fire,
talking about things of mystery, and what-ifs
with someone I care about, who I know
cares about me, doesn't have to be a love-thing,
just a love of interesting conversation, nothing stuffy,
nothing in the high-hat-intellectual vein, just whatever
comes to mind..that has us wondering..
by the warmth of a fire, preferably on a rainy, or snowy night,
with a good drink, a pot of chili on the stove,
and apple-crisp for dessert.

Nowhere either of us has to be..but right here,
no interruptions, just the flickering of thoughts,
trading fears, favorite things, anything a heart desires
as rain raps the windowpane,
and wind cuts corners round the house
creating comma's to our interchange.
Now shadows in firelight,
I could listen all night...
then laughter, as I interject instead,
a joy ..in this
dialogue-dance.

Sky,
You paint a very inviting picture of getting to know you better.  I'd be in heaven if you lived next door. You are a woman after my own heart. ~L

"Comfortable Conversation," with or without the fire.

You live a very happy, joyous life if you can live it within the thoughts of this poem, and I have a wonderful feeling that indeed you do, Sky. You are a one-of-a-kind woman. I'm envious.

And your spirit deserves fulness, my friend. Wonderful part of you, you shared - a Christmas Present in itself. May your dreams attain reality and always be beautiful.

Merry Christmas

Your poetry always places the reader right in the middle of the scene.  The "at ease" feeling to this one, where a completely relaxed conversation about anything stands so much more substantial than any planned conversation, with topic known in mind beforehand, ever could be.  We never get enough of moments like this in life, but too few of us recognize them while they are still among us.

"the brain-bubbles of small children
who say the funniest things,
along with their cut-to-the-chase thinking
of the most pure and wise."

Had to laugh at that.  Shame, and/or etiquette, is not something anyone is born with...it must be taught to us.  I love the fact children can at least speak their thoughts plainly and without fear...yet.

"...brain bubbles..."

This line made me smile.

The rest sat me down and gave me everything it describes.  I love times like these. They seem to be so hard to come by these days.

Lovely
