Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2018-12-14 09:25 AM

I saw a falling star
at dark thirty this morning
on my way to work.
I thought to myself,
this will be my lucky day.
And I made a schmaltzy
Christmas wish,
full of good cheer.
As I contemplated
this special event,
it occurred to me
I may have been a bit rash.
Chances are, it was no star,
just a little burning space trash.
Then I felt a little silly,
wishing on garbage
re-entering the atmosphere.
No matter what it was,
seeing it was thrilly.
Giving the heavens homage
and gratitude
will never be a waste of attitude.
So I saw a falling
what-ever-you-are
at dark thirty this morning
on my way to work.
I still think either way,
this will be my lucky day.

Lori, I have an old Poem titled 'Dark Thirty'will have to dig that out.
I enjoyed this,
& I would have made that wish too,
can't afford to pass up a Wish!
Love that Wonder..still alive & well.

Wonderful Poem L.

Count yourself blessed Lori, it's the last meteor shower of 2018 last night and tonight.  I think you caught one of the early bird actual falling stars.  We have nothing but cloud cover here, so I am very glad to hear you at least got to see one.

So, was it a lucky day? For sure not a dreadful one I hope. Cool piece, liked where it took - and brought (thank goodness!) us back from. And like Michael, I, tool, was disappointed by the cloud cover.

much enjoyed

Thanks Sky for reminding me about my Wonder being alive and well...something I often consider quirksome, is truly a gift. ((hugs))

Michael,
Thank you so much for letting me know! I really do feel blessed. Been a long time (decades) since I tried to watch a meteor shower and that was in the wee hours of the summer, battling mosquitoes in the countryside. ~L

Hey Jimmy!
It was a great and long day. 3:00 am- midnight. First of all it was a Friday, (best day of the work week). Got to see my husband's
oldest granddaughter graduate cume laude from Washburn University as an RN. Then ate at a Texas Roadhouse for the first time. I really love and enjoy his family, so it was a great time. ~L

proof you can do anything with poetry. and your enjoyable poem says just that. you thought you saw then did question it and then went with what you wanted. that's what poetry is all about.

keep expressing. great read.

Curious about the 'Texas Roadhouse'.  Our favorite place to go for steak. And love their Catus Blossom Onion. Similar to Outback's Blooming Onion.

Yann,
As always, thanks for commenting! Maybe if we can harvest all the plastic out of our oceans we can put it into an orbit in space to disintegrate in the greatest "falling star" of all time. ~L

Jimmy,
At the Texas Roadhouse I fell in love with the steaming hot rolls and sweet butter. I was so full of those I could barely eat my supper! ~L
