Wrap-around stars retreat in the background
no longer to shoulder the sycamores, missing
but morning brings showers, suggesting the symphonic
while rain cannot hide from the cloud cover

the pitch, the crescendo as

I will reach up for you, in your downpouring
as the leaves congregate, along with
the lexicon of rain speak, in all
that fly by, still

shaken off by the mother tree
presenting in custom colors I wore
in my younger daze

your ambers siennas and persimmons
will dazzle the faithless ones, with eyes
that will paint on the starkest and leanest of
landscapes, sugarcoating the realization of

as winters ring harsher now
tethered with
mountains of months of these shivering midnights
rounding these plumb crazy hills

but I will sip slow
on the elixir of moonshine and
madness, sprinkled with pipedreaming
and dot connecting

as poetry writes
the salvation
