I stopped in the countryside, She was silent, u met someone jogging, I asked Where are birds? I do not know, I run Then the mailman arrived, I asked, Do you know where are birds? I do not know, I bring the mail. Then I asked the baker Did you see birds? No, my job is to make some bread. Finally, I saw a roguish scientist, I asked, Where are birds? I do not know, I invent pesticides. Then, I smiled, We shall hear no more birds, Only the poet knows why, I believe that they sang by love. |

Oh Yann, I really relate to this. I was just thinking yesterday about how important poets and artists are in giving voice to what is wrong in the world and sounding the alarm. ("Where are the birds") because we understand there is a deeper meaning. (..."they sang by love"). These days, politics move me every bit as much as a thunder storm or sun set can. I feel I will explode if I don't write about it. ~L |

Yann...Indeed where are the birds? I have some in my yard nesting in a tree close by a window where they sing to me every morning. My dentist has a big picture window in the exam room where I can watch them uninterrupted they just fly back and forth from a feeder to a bird bath, I love watching them...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

You have penned it perfectly Yann....So much of what we love seems to be becoming extinct ~ If man keeps destroying everything...shall we not perish too? A sad and scary thought. Thank you for sharing your wise words ![]() |

Much enjoyed this my friend, and it's truths. When I first moved to my present house, 35 or so years ago, I personally logged 6o some species of bird in or over (I've never had a vulture actually land on my property, for instance, but circle above it, yes) my yard. Now, some 30 years later, so far, including migrating species, I've counted 19, this year. Some I know are due changing migration habits; many habitat depletion by growing "concrete jungle", trees being cut down, and so forth. Much due pesticides, and of course, cats, and more cats. I miss the birds, and we as a world will miss them in so many ways when their gone. Enjoyed. j. |

Très triste, Yann et magnifiquement et poétiquement exprimé. |
