My Final Journey
By Paul Wilson

Sing me home father of the wind
comfort me with your melody
Music is the life blood of my soul
touching my heart…setting me free

Let the stars light my pathway
on this final journey thru life
Each step a memory
thru happiness and strife

Gone are the years of my youth
lost in the catacombs of my mind
Forgotten are the memories and dreams
I now search so hard to find

We’ve shared happiness and heartache
with each other thru the years
We travelled down life’s road together
facing our fears…drying each others tears

Who could have known our lives
would someday become one
Two strangers sharing a bond
never too be undone

Thanks for all the memories you gave me
each one very special along life’s highway
How I wish we could live forever
together with you… I would stay

Sing me home father of the wind
play my favorite songs just for me
Let our memories last us a lifetime
one day… together we will be free

Well said, my friend . . . the years of getting older do leave gaps don't they.

Much enjoyed . . .

So much in-depth writing here, can't single out one single thing, because the lines do what they are supposed to do . . . Stand alone, and at the same time give credence to the lines above and below. Enjoyed this one completely.

Very melodic reminiscing, Paul.  A life shared is a beautiful thing.  Like the view of where your road is taking you as well, the end being just the beginning.

"Music is the life blood of my soul
touching my heart…setting me free"

Ditto the sentiment

Beautifully penned. Shows depths of introspection with which I can deeply identify. Write on!

Paul, your poem is exquisite and so very obviously from the heart (the best source).  My most favourite part is:

Who could have known
Our stories would become one
Two strangers sharing a bond
Never to be undone.

My second favourite part is the rest of the poem.

Paul - Any Love sustained by two hearts unseparated as one is a formidable force to reckon with and historically has been known to collapse kingdoms, topple empires, weaken the strongest of men and women and then amazingly somehow resurrect them from the dead. Maybe it's never over but just starts again with a new beginning. Enjoyed your work. Namyh
