Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Gonna meet my grandson today.
I’m so excited.
I can’t wait to hold him
and smell his little head.
He is only ten days old.
Of course I think
he is the prettiest baby ever.
Even though I have two
other grandchildren
that were the prettiest too.
They call me Nana.
Jesse is going to call me
grandma.
He already has a Nana.
I can’t wait to see
how mom and dad
are holding up
with their first child.
Little Jesse was a bit
of  a surprise.
Dad just turned forty,
mom’s a few years younger.
They had decided they’d always
be just a family of dogs.
They have embraced
their surprise as a blessing.
They were concerned at first
about the dog’s barking
upsetting the baby.
But Jesse has heard
the dogs since his conception.
They don’t bother him at all.
But the dogs on the other hand,
can’t stand to hear Jesse cry.
How delightfully ironic.

What a delightful story about the dogs. Jesse's very own protector. Sweet!

Happy Happy Mother's Day, Lori.

Thanks Jerry!
The dogs were markedly more quiet now that the baby is here. They still bark but it is very short lived.  He is so sweet! ~L

Yann,
It delights me to hear how my poem made you feel. They are going to be good parents. I am joyful too. ~L
