Different Eyes

have I based my life on things
which mattered not
in the reality of the moment
forever looking back
n’er ahead
it now seem such a lazy way to think
the years have piled up
smothering me with “those” days
thing is
the life I needed to embrace
are suffocating with those visions of yesteryear
been grasping for what was
not exactly am I looking ahead
living my poetical life
on yesterdays not tomorrow
that’s a no-no
what’s wrong with living today
for today
nuttin’ someone said
I agree
getting down with now
the past is the past
serves no purpose except
as a guiding tool
for today
not a blueprint for the future
I need to know where
I am going
not where I have been
except as I’ve said
tomorrow’s sun
will rise as it always does
I will rise and look out the window
the sun seems different
than yesterdays
or . . .
am I looking through different eyes

I wish you hadn't taken down the other poem.
i'm delighted with this one. I hope that as you see differently you will consequently feel differently as well. You've paid your dues and it is time to reap the benefits. ~L
