Under a lamp-lit sky,
comes the shadow of her silent shuffle

Stretching and warping through the cracks
of the city dwellings, hovering over the bed of he who slumbers

The stealthy plotting of her masterful attack, broods, and swells,
as the pawns of her memories lurch forward and inflict their timely wounds

Caped in the dark of midnight’s shroud, her nocturnal passing’s
are known only by the vermin who live in the hours of the sun’s deprivation

In a crossways manner, the Black Bishop’s stride floats ever forward,
the sweep of his scythe will forever haunt the space between her, and him that wronged her...

Okay Bluesy, this is one of, if not the, best poem of this type I have ever read. Every line is the best line, but grouped all together, they are phenomenally outstanding.

Thank you so much, Miss Lori.

Actually, Paul Wilson's poem "The Lonely Bed" set me to thinking about such things.
Then there was that Farrah Fawcett film, "The Burning Bed". After those two thoughts, I was ready to go!

I am sorry to know of your experiences, my friend. No doubt they cut deep.

I've always had a lot of respect for your writing, Jerry, so coming from you, that's quite a compliment.

I very much appreciate your reading and leaving such a fine reply.

Thank you very much, indeed.
