Fair to middlin' of nowhere

It came in the first hours after midnight,
gentle and steady with no thunder and lightning.
You could almost hear the dry soil sighing
as it received its life sustaining drink.
The much needed shower was such a blessing,
that even the dog stepped out in it to do his thing.
Normally he won’t leave to porch.
Maybe it was the lack of thunder that made it all okay.
Thunder turns him to quivering gray jelly.
Wiping his feet and drying him off,
I marveled at the wet miracle before me.
That was at three this morning.
I don’t know what time the rain moved on,
But the day has been cloudy and damp
not allowing the precious moisture to evaporate.
It will take many more of these soaking showers
to break the drought, but it was a much needed start.
And the first weekend in April without snow!

Thunder will break a dogs spirit when nothing else will. Happy to hear that you got the first shower, but hopefully many more will come your wayy.

There is more rain in the forecast, but you know what they say about rain. It is like sex in that you never know how much you're going to get or how long it will last.

Between my doing the news and you doing the weather...well, it could opportunity knockin'!

I'd be behind the newsdesk, tie & jacket,
but you'd have to be standing in a tight slinky dress
like all good littles weather girls do!

Well Bluesy,
If I was a good little girl and could fit into
that slinky dress I might take the job. But seeing as how that will be when hell freezes over, I wouldn't hold my breath. ~L
