When one is bound by the chains of abuse, it is the mind that holds them captive and makes them do things they wouldn’t. They acquiesce to keep the monster at bay. Should they be be able to get away, the memories will follow and haunt. Forever wondering how and why it all happened in the first place. The longer you heal, the more you see just how sick you really were. And just how badly you dropped the ball, when it came to protecting her. Every day you can see her scars, most of which she keeps inside. She struggles to act normal when demons make her want to hide. The monster has turned to ash never to love nor hurt again neither to apologize nor make amends. What’s done is done, is done. |

When the story is over and the book is closed, maybe it's time to go to the library. There's sure to be one you haven't read before. I know this weighs heavy on your mind, Miss Lori. You don't often structure your poetry this way. You put a lot of thought into it. ...just bein' Bluesy |

I have a lot of unresolved hurt and anger about all that. I know it only hurts me in the long run, but I still cuss him whenever he comes to mind.  ~L |

I don't dwell on it, really I don't. I just get theses random uninvited memories. I tell him now what I couldn't say then. I only kick myself for a little bit.  |

Funny thing about that fistacuff stuff, I was always afraid if I tried to punch somebody I'd hurt myself worse than them. So I never tried it (in real life) I've kicked some serious butt in my imagination though. ~L |
