...The doctor gave me these little white pills
to silence the mem’ries and keep my mind still
The wall clock is stuck on a quarter-to-eight,
my eyes are sprung open, I feel wide awake
...and it’s all because of a little mistake
that I’m lying here locked in this room

The warden is big, he’s tough, and he’s strong
While strapping me in, he says that I’m wrong
I hear dark shadows whisperin’ my fate
I must summon my strength to make my escape!
...and it’s all because of a little mistake
that I’m lying here locked in this room

My hands aren’t free so they feed me by tube
They put drugs in my water and drugs in my food
They’re trying to kill me...to assassinate
Clearly, I see they’re all pawns of the state
….and it’s all because of a little mistake
that I’m lying here locked in this room

Bluesy...Touching poem. Visions of a sad time in my life when my younger brother was a resident in a home for the mentally ill. They kept him doped up so much I could hardly keep from crying every time I visited him. I know he is better off now that he is n Heaven...Paul
