Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2018-02-24 05:27 PM

Late, late at night,
in the wee, wee hours,
when it seems the
whole world is asleep,
I find myself awake
and wondering
the whys and why nots
of things.
I often find myself
aggravated at the
heartlessness of others.
Those in high places
that impose.
And those in low places
that victimize.
I pride myself
on my understanding
of situations that make
people do what they do.
But some things escape me.
And I waver on whether
I want to know or not.
Too much I know first hand
that allows me the opportunity
to empathize.
I don’t want to identify
with meanness and hatred.
I’ll hold tight my ignorance.
Greed I wrestle with the most
I think, as I can relate to wanting
the biggest piece of the pie.
But to gain millions at the expense
of other’s livelihood, I don’t think so.
I’m not prone to violence, but,
Sometime I just want to
shake a person silly and ask them.
“What are you thinking?”
I fall into a fitful sleep,
dreaming I rule the world.

Ruling with authority and not power is the ideal, but when greed for power exceeds empathetic authority...well, welcome to the world of the human race.

There are no 'one-size-fits-all' answers...unless of course, everyone alive adhered to ten easy commandments.
But one (or more would have to believe such things.
A few millennia has shown that's not the case.

I know you are right. I just am one of those that wants to fix things and if I can't I want to know why the heck not and just because its one of those things that 'can't be fixed' drives me wonky sometimes. Usually when I'm frustrated about something else I can't fix.

May I offer this to you, Miss Lori,
as simply a thought or as a prayer when futility circles your heart looking
for a way in...
quote:
"God, give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.

Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next"
Do with it as you will.

Bluesy,
What a truly beautiful gift of thought. It means more than you know and brought a tear to my eye, You are a good and thoughtful friend. But I won't tell anybody, I know you have a reputation to maintain. ~L
