Little Things As of today I am ridding myself Of little things to worry about. Little things. Like My husband. My self. We are now the little things in today’s lives. We see it written daily. We read it In the degradation and railings Against the elderly. People who would talk to us do, But then they explode in other venues As we watch. They explode/implode/disintegrate before Our eyes. So no longer will I worry about the little things. Like my husband and myself. I will worry instead… As if I hadn’t already done so…. About the state of the state of the Union That I once and still pledge allegiance to; I will worry instead About the children who have parents Who put them in harm’s way…. About the parents who are making a Good living, but believe they can do it By themselves, and not have a place For God. For now I place my faith into His hands. As I have before but now that you have read this, So may you. For I am doing it for you. Deny my request to Him all you wish….it is still My prayer that He be with you. Amen. © KRJ 1 July 2014 [This message has been edited by Sunshine (09-02-2014 06:12 PM).] |

Nicely written, and, as the reader, your kindness is appreciated. But......I've never been able to accept the inequities of your God. Example: last weekend was wonderful, my children and grandchildren laughing as we dined in a safe, sundrenched garden. Then, my mind slips back to the forties: children thrown into ovens. I need a word with your God. Yes, I know The Bible holds your answers, but it doesn't hold mine. I don't need gods, of any description, to convince me what is right and wrong. My psyche and my conscience do the job just fine. Goodness, empathy, consideration, justice, kindness, equity, love: these are not the sole property of your God. I hope you do not find this comment disrespectful. It was never intended as such, and don't worry about me. I worry about religious people in the same way that you worry about those who are not. I understand your faith, I envy it. |

Faith is no easy thing...more so for some than others...that you can find refuge in your faith is an enviable feat...and a good thing~*~ So sweet to read you again, Sunshine~*~ |

Sometimes faith and religion go together like oil and water... Praying for the well being of others never goes out of style no matter what you believe in. Just because others may make it seem as if the elderly are unimportant, don't believe it for one moment. They are soon to be (if not already) a majority. And they are a very, very important and large part of the electorate. Yes, it is good to see you again Karilea. |

Wow. I came in writing abou the devil, and then you post this. I am considerably humbled. You have always had the most appropriate moniker on this site you know. You shine that light everywhere you go. Michael |

Thank you all for your honesty. Michael...you always knew I had a lot of problems with the dark. My worry wart takes over and I lay awake worrying. But here you are. Alive...and writing...and acknowledging. Love to all. |

Beautiful and admirable, Karilea. Love it. Belle, faith is actually so easy. For me, it is as easy as knowing what day of the week it is, or that the sun will rise tomorrow, even if hidden behind clouds, or rain or fog or buildings. It is oxygen, water and fire. Owl |

Hi, Karilea. You are never far from my thoughts when I think of poetry and prolific writers. You are a national treasure. Faith does not depend on the beliefs of others. Fortunately. |

Karilea,Well written. The other day a friend came by with a note she had read about how after the age of 75 doctors will not give some of the exams and other things and colonoscopy was mentioned. She was upset becuase she has one every two years. The thngs people worry about is endless. ME? I am still smiling. Why worry? I am upset often by the politicans and the way the world has turned and I feel for my children and grandchildren and the great grandchildren. But all I can do now is love them all and let them know they are loved. I find it ironic that the "peacenics" of the sixties are the men and women makimg all the war news now.My sixty three year old son tells me he is ashamed to be of that generation. The one that was all love and peace has turned the tables for money in the poicket. I started teaching a Sunday school class at the age of 12 and did so for many years but I do have many doubts after learning so much more over the years.I can still say, "I love you" and I care if anyone is having a problem but I no longer attend any Sunday services.I did for a few years because in the 'ninties I was taking an elderly lady to her Catholic church each Sunday.I am not nor ever was a Catholic but if there is a God I am sure the place of worship means little to him or her. Love to you Karilea. JO |

This poem is quite lovely both in its content and beliefs, I believe that everyone should be freely entitled to believe in whatever religions they adhere to, without being badgered by others, truly there is room for everyone to share Gods word...Keith. |

Karilea! Thank you for the help! ![]() I think it is the way in which the poem is written that matters, not so much the content or belief. Many times you have replied to poems about my heartbreak when it was not what you were feeling. I like this poem, especially the part about the "little things." |
