During a dry spell of my emotions when tenderly tended things slip out of my attention A green winter refugee succumbed to a brown dry death on the doorstep of spring Consolation is little more than a few black seeds from withered pods remorsefully buried in remoistened soil Distracted from diligence to undisturbed dirt by other blooming things thirsting for attention My wait and see seeds are all but forgotten again My rains came for me upon the porch and I did flourish then as my green tender things I began to tend My heart was blessed by what my eyes beheld Not one but seven seeds survived to send tendrils vining up to see the sun Fine fern like foliage grace a winding vine that will soon be adorned with fairy sized crimson trumpets Flowers that only last a day or two but blooms and blooms and blooms Now there are seven where there was just one Both life and spirit have been restored So it would seem we both survived that dry spell and are all the better for it |

Congratulations to both you and the seeds, Lori. Your metaphor stands in good stead concerning you own "dry" spell. Good to know both you and the seeds are stretching toward the sun. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Thanks JL I don't even know what it is called. It is unique stuff if you can get a good stand of it going up something. I saw it and admired it and was given several (now deceased) small plants...gawd I hope the killing spree is over! Now, if they make it through August! Lori ![]() |

Lori , Loved the poem and read with understanding and a smile. Five seeds were given to me a few years ago and the giver said they were Egyptian Bean Seeds. Black with a white spot. I planted them and soon a vine of green leaves and red bean pods appeared among the small lavender and white flowers. I found them in the charts as Hyacinth bean vine when I looked for them on the internet. Beans are not to be eaten but saved and passed on to others as they are not fit to be eaten. Very attractive , can be potted or placed outside. Best to you, and thanks for post, Jo |

Lori, I feel gardening takes the place of nurturing kids or animals and much more peaceful. Jo |
