By looking at the last movie of Cronenberg, The title of which is " Maps to the stars " I asked myself a convenient question: Who in France knows Anne Sexton? The movie mentions her at its beginning, I supposed that in the theatre in Brest I was the only one to have read " love poems " In a language of the most sophisticated, To write in verse free is also sophisticated That to read Homer in alexandrine? Does it please? All this to tell you that rather than to groan We should rather become enlightened in night And in the nonsense of any defeated life, Because if we owe our salute sometimes without knowing it, It belongs to writers as Anne Sexton, Who wrote on the impure walls and the push of freedom … Then I ask again the question But who in France thus knows Anne Sexton? PS : i wrote this poem for french viewers of this american film who despict hollywood little stars, |

I know of Anne Sexton but I can't really say that I enjoy her poetry. It frankly doesn't do much for me but I'm sure there are many others who like it. Ida |

I don't know about France, but here's someone in England who hasn't read Anne Sexton. I'll surely now take a look at her work, and then your poem will mean more to me. I thank you for that opportunity. [This message has been edited by Redstart (06-03-2014 06:29 AM).] |
