Yeah . . . Yet another introspective poem. when still quite a young lad with a negative attitude I said, from this point onward I will intentionally do bad things a bad man I shall be it was a bleak and lonely road I traveled crisscrossing the country looking for . . . I honestly had no idea still . . . I was a rebel with a faux cause I loved the ladies and they me they helped me transport myself from the bad toward more sensitive feelings I’d n’er had before ‘twas within this framework my negative became a positive not all at once but little by little portions of bitterness leaked from my heart and soul replaced by moments of seeing the world differently a new way opened up for me from the ladies who crossed paths with me I saw beauty not the hard rain of self doubt and insecurity not beauty for beauty’s sake toward the end of my self induced withdrawal from polite society I found myself understanding the beauty around me it would take a few more years before I would understand the transformation and yet another woman to flesh me out I’m still at this late time in my life learning to accept the beauty which surrounds me ©April 9, 2014 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ How come abbreviated is such a long word? ~*~ |

quote: Wonderful write, dear Jerry, a true gift, because only when we experience the darkness can we fully appreciate the "discovering of beauty". It is as if we were sitting in the sun, but with eyes closed and when we open them the colors of all that surrounds us are so much brighter than we saw them before. What a blessing those dear ladies in your life! Margherita [This message has been edited by Margherita (05-10-2014 09:22 AM).] |

Absolutely Margherita, the ladies who filtered in and out of my world made all the difference in how I perceived life and love. I owe them much, Thanks for taking the time to read and comment so wonderfully on my poetry. ~*~ How come abbreviated is such a long word? ~*~ |

"portions of bitterness leaked from my heart and soul replaced by moments of seeing the world differently" You struck upon a fundamental property here...getting rid of the negative to make room to take in the positive...That is imprtant to be aware of and keep in mind. Glad you see that. Lori |
