I find myself writing about "the end"
a lot lately. I'm not morbid about it, it's
just that I am so much nearer the end than
I ever have been, and it is on my mind a lot.

don’t want flowers on my grave
there will be no grave
my body is donated to science
don’t want tears or burning incense
why not?
because I’ve lived a detached life
pretty much through it all
I’ve drank amber bourbon
and hearty red wine
was loud and witty
as I smothered within my desperation
I allowed few to penetrate
my isolation
mostly women
for I was human after all
eh, now I am no longer breathing
and thinking
about my problematic life
no one will mourn me at my funeral
there won’t be a funeral
letting everyone off the hook
I’m grateful
to have found peace near the end
making a pact with my demons
even as I wandered through
my yesteryears
secreting the tremor
of my poisonous anguish

there is an enviable piece of mind that comes with having things in order... Looks like you are ship shape and ready to go and can just kick back and enjoy the ride and this end of the journey is a whole lot smoother than the start. Good work!
