Judas, you loved Jesus passionately you saw in Him the One Who would free your homeland from the foreign oppressors. He told you His kingdom was not of this world. That concept felt abstract to you as you walked together the same dusty earthly roads. You wanted Him to show His power by chasing away the enemy, but He taught about the laws of love. You insisted, but He choose to die for reasons you couldn't understand. Disappointment flooded your heart. He knew how devoted you were, He choose you to help Him accomplish the sacred Scriptures. He said “go now and do what you must do”! It wasn't hatred that guided you, but your hope that He would use His divine power to save Himself and all the oppressed people. Your kiss was called the worst act of betrayal, in the light of what happened next, and yet you, Judas, had put your last hope in it. Jesus was known to His persecutors, that kiss of yours wasn't needed, but you kissed Him anyway, driven by a force greater than you. In your heart you expected Him to act like the Supreme Being you knew He was. But He choose the extreme humiliation instead. You couldn't bear it, pain exploded in your chest. You couldn't bear it, for your love for Him was all that was left in the end. Your every tear screamed “why?”. No answer, no comfort, no hope, nothing to hold on to. On the threshold of deepest despair in bitter solitude and full of remorse you too choose to die. But Jesus knew how deeply you loved Him. Not damnation was His verdict but redemption. He welcomed you in His kingdom He opened the gates of heaven for you for He loved you too. As He loves us all for who we are, divine offspring and children of eternity. Like you, Judas, we all shall leave our own darkness behind and find our way back into the light for ... Not one soul will be lost. In the end there will be only Love. |

The interpretations of the Bible are varied and many. Judas was Judas, the betrayer. You interpreted his thoughts and gave them to us. But I wonder how you could believe you had the traitor's thought process. I don't remember a scripture which bears out Judas' thoughts, but I will admit I haven't read the scriptures in a very long time. ~*~ Why is bra singular and panties plural? ~*~ |

Margerita This is a most powerful write. I have never heard such an in depth explanation. You put the flesh and bone, suit and tie, hat and cane on what little is thought about Judas beyond simply being the betrayer of Jesus. You absolutely illuminate the love of God through out your piece. This poem would, in my humble opinion, make a great opening for a sermon during Lent. (I'm not that big on organized relgion, I'd like to hear it any time of year) Excellent and blessed work Margherita! (and this isn't even your first language!) You are amazing! Lori  |

Dear Jerry, thank you for reading my long text to the end and for your kindness in commenting. I knew my thoughts would ring "strange" as they certainly are in contrast to the traditional beliefs. Though my words were inspired by what we know from the Gospel, the development of my thoughts occurred within my heart. It's all about unconditional Love and forgiveness. I can't accept eternal condemnation for it is unthinkable, according to the Laws of Love preached and lived by Jesus. An unforgiving Supreme Being cannot co-exist within a universal dimension ruled by Love. Unfortunately during the centuries following the presence of Jesus on Earth many holy texts have suffered manipulation and so it is difficult to find the pure Truth. When we listen to our hearts truth reveals more often than when we trust men's interpretation. Thankfully there is freedom of thought (not everywhere!) and though I have been considered a rebel many times by "traditional believers" I continue to express my vision of things. My "vision" is rooted in Love. Jesus has forgiven Peter though he had denied to know Him for three times the night before Jesus was nailed to the cross. And yet Jesus, despite this extremely painful denial, named Peter as the "rock" upon which the Church would be built. Forgiveness is the key to the Reign of Heaven. And in my opinion it applies to every single soul. Otherwise any religious theory vacillates and is bound to crash. Love and peace. Margherita |

Dear Lori, I was writing my comment to Jerry while you wrote your heartwarming comment to my thoughts. I am moved by your sensitive approach to the voice of my heart, thank you dearly! Yes, the central message of this text is Unconditional Divine Love and Salvation of every single soul. I have always been intrigued by this very special bond between Jesus and Judas. hello Margherita, there was a judas, and God knew it, he is a part of the mistery of Jesus, your poem point the contradiction of the betrayal, because Judas was kind of a necessity for the destiny of the lord, for Jesus find his Farher in Heaven, this is a very convincing poem and I know there are also books on this mystrious subject, thanks for sharing yann |

A most compelling read. I'm pleased that you didn't mention 30 pieces of silver, and selected a more conciliatory approach to Judas. I've always seen him as a bit of a fall guy. His love for Jesus was never in doubt, as the taking of his own life would indicate. Jesus was always aware that Judas would betray him and, indeed, encouraged him to do so. It was always God's will that Jesus should beat death and Judas was a pre-decided pawn in the process, who never truly realised the implications of his actions. Without Judas there could not have been a resurrection, and therefore no redemption for the world. I hope this makes sense, because in the final conclusion, both Jesus and Judas never surrendered their love. |

A few years ago, I saw a production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Your poem reminds me of how the guy playing Judas said he prepared for the role... that he had to remember the love in order to play out the betrayal. His performance was beautiful and moving... so is your poem! *S* |

This poem was very thought provoking and somehow makes sense because of how the Bible plays this scenorio out. I still think we must be careful on how we view the unconditional love of God vs the acceptance of sin in our society though. I always be;lieved that we are to love the person and hate the sin, including our own. Loved this write and thanks for sharing. |

Dear KAM39, thank you for taking the time to read and comment so kindly on my poem. I agree with you insofar certainly we have to strive to live according to the heavenly laws of love and when we hurt others with our behavior we need to repent and ask to be forgiven, trying to change our attitude. Divine mercy is an incredibly generous gift and I believe we shall all be given the opportunity to repent and to experience the pain we have caused, so that we realize our mistakes. Sometimes only our heart may reveal an answer to our questions and interpretations; I have always felt compassion for Judas ... St. Peter denied to know Jesus and I found that harder to accept.
