I wrote my novels one right after the other burnt the midnight oil slaved away in the hot midday sun tried for years a agent to acquire a publisher for to publish nay and nay again impossible to break down those doors self publish I’d always shunted still, to be published to hold a novel of my creation in my hands was burning a hole in my heart so the self publish route I went as I continued to write between books I heard poetry calling me to the fore and for all these years my life have been spent writing words trying to make them appeal to the reading public both the novels the memoir and the one children’s book Momma, why doesn’t grandfather write things I can read my grandson said to his mother so! I wrote Josh’s Dragon I mean, who doesn’t like dragons oh, like so many I found out that writing was the easiest part it was the marketing of them selling what you’d writ was the hard part yes, I’ve sold books not too many all things considered I hardly even try anymore plus I have run out of words can’t write novels I still have my poetry I owe much to poetry wrote myself out of the darkest dark I am not the same man I was for most of my life my poetry made it possible to forgive all those who did me wrong during the dark years but best of all I found a way to forgive myself that my friends was the best gift of all I am living out my last days a happy contented man I feel so fortunate to have found my way to this point and time ©March 6, 2014 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ There was a sign on the lawn at a drug re-hab center that said 'Keep off the Grass'. ~*~ |

Often, as is the case here, your poetry is like the rings on a tree-telling the story of your life. This time from the perspective of writing. I'm sure many of us can relate to the power of writing in our lives. Thanks for giving us this opportunity for gratitude. Lori |

You speak for many who love and feel the calling of writing, whether the book is a commercial success or not. I relate and admire such passion for this art, may you write on, always |

very interesting 'life and reality write' ! [I can certainly relate as 'poetry' saved my life a few times (wrote my way out of 'the darkness,' etc.] |
