Sitting with you today I listened to your ragged snore Your body ravaged not by disease but by the cure As your breath rasps in and out of your radiation racked throat I am grateful for your sleep and the blessed relief it gives you This is but one day of many more yet for you to endure I am grateful for your need that I am here to walk this path with you I am grateful for this time spent with you in your illness A prisoner to your chair you share my cell You have slipped inside my solitude and give me comfort there I have drawn you closer and come to know a deeper you LGR©12/18/16 |
