In remembrance of Nanette.

I always wanted you fresh from a bath,
There was just something about you,
still warm from the bath,
smelling so . . . you!
You were sweet,
gave me that wonderful smile
that meant everything.

At night we'd lie in bed,
talk, whisper really,
about nothing,
just hearing each others voice.
Sometimes that was enough.
Not often, but sometimes.
We were a randy twosome,
liked to take chances
in public.
Silly, and we knew it, but still . . .

Los Angeles during the late sixties,
marched to the beat
of our own hormones.
Whiskey A-Go-Go on the strip,
catching the headliners
before they were headliners.
Jose Feliciano.
he made fun of his blindness.
Just taking in the whole Hollywood scene
turned us on,
like we needed anything to turn us on.
I fooled around with speed,
other things.
You told me you were high enough on life,
didn't need that phoniness.

You were too.
High on life.
We were good together.
When we were together.
When we weren't together,
I'd come back to you,
or I'd send for you,
wherever I was at that particular time.
you always came to me.
Like the wayward wind,
I always left again.
then came the day,
when it was you who did the leaving.
I never saw you again.

What a wonderful poem filled with sweet reminisces. "Whisky-a-go-go" with guys like Jose` Feliciano indeed, and Johnny Rivers, not to mention those booted 'go-go' girls! When I left the service in '70, I'd already landed in the Santa Ana area and LA was just a hop on I-5. Great time...great times.

I'm sorry about that which I arrived at in your close Jerry, but you're still here to recall and share and I for one, greatly appreciate your poetry.

Loving Linny Jean is poetry.

Yep, some of those bad old days were actually good. Thanks, James.
