Do I stand here lost and forlorn? Do I wish I'd never been born? The cosmos swirling round my head, I search my soul, but it is dead. Incidents happened long ago, To put me in my funk and woe. How to right the wrongs I have done, When I thought I was number one. A postmortem life I do lead, Many lonely tears I did bleed. I tried to solve life's mystery, Looked for my name on the marquee. Spitting into destiny's wind, I fought, fell down, got up and grinned. Found lovers to soothe my jaded soul, But they could never make it whole. The paths I trod were decadent, Searching for me in my wild hunt. I scoured the countryside, I did, Wishing for things that were forbid. Each step I took, it was all wrong, Found myself going with the throng. Not where I wanted me to be, Wandering around life's sad debris. I changed course, I altered my path, More than once, I still felt the wrath. Once I knew that was a sham, Hell bent and not giving a damn. The roads I have taken were cruel, But I learned never to trust fools. The end of my life I've no shame, I'm just Jerry, that is my name. ©August 26, 2016 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

quote:Lyrical, in it's way Jerry, that which I quoted. Edgar Guest couldn't have said this better. Splendid biographical poetry. I enjoyed reading some about you. Your own life has been your best muse. Loving Linny Jean is poetry. |

This is very good JP.. A detour by way of the mean streets but coming full circle nevertheless. Life is a journey, detours and all. Love your self reflection. Kudos Jerry. |

Yes Blues, I managed to find the mean streets for sure. Spent many a day there. I became educated, not like college educated, as you will agree. Still, it smartened me up for the long road ahead. Thank you for stopping by with your thoughts . . . ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Oh Namyh, I hope you didn't travel down the same roads I did. But even if you fell in step even close you had one hell of a ride. I am very happy that we have both lived through it and can sit back and thank goodness we made it through the bad times. Thank you for checking "My Name is Jerry." ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

I'm not very good at math, but I think maybe your "mellow" years are beginning to catch up to your "mean" years. At some point, I think the scales of time are going to tip in favor of the better years. You may have been born into a world of sh*t, but you have used that for compost and grown into something beautiful. ~L |
