With Purpose

I saw you last night
In a small round mirror.
It wasn't for very long
Though it didn't seem fleeting.

I focused intently on your eyes
Seeing your smirk and happiness
The nuances of your lips and cheeks
As you burst into a huge laugh.

Your long fingers in your hair
Flipping it first this way
And then that;
Matching your attitude.

Sometimes, when old men dream
It's not for prophecy.
Sometimes, old men dream
To minister to their broken hearts.

Often when commenting on poems the word, 'beautiful' is used. Here, it is so well deserved. It is actually so very touching.

I can't imagine a worse nightmare than what you went through with this, Larry....and I'm glad your dreams bring you comfort.
