In Memory
By Larry Chadwick

To spare me pain, I'll lock the door,
Let no one enter anymore.
I've been hurt beyond belief,
All I want is no more grief.

So I tried that plan for just a day.
It was so lonely that I couldn't stay.
My heart was hollow all alone,
And far too soon would turn to stone.

There is a price for love, it's true,
But worth the risk of knowing you.
Friendship is worth the threat of pain,
And knowing you is much to gain.

And when you're gone I know I'll cry,
It's what we do when our friends die.
That's what I learned since I came here
And got the chance to know the Balladeer.

8-27-16

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

"I could have missed the pain but I'd have had to miss the dance."

And I wouldn't have missed knowing him for anything.

Beautiful tribute, Larry.

Oh, if that plan could just work for one day, let alone eternity. x

I remember when I first started writing, he took time to give me some help.  His generosity in sharing his love of words and sense of humor will always be remembered.

Thank you, Larry, for your fine tribute.
