Have you noticed she asked
the sun's changed position or
the August of crickets
amid the exiting season
at the sundown of windows

or the leaning of sunflowers
where  the browns storm the rose fields
in the calico colors
from the very first fallen
of the checkerboard sycamores

in the tumbling down again
at the harken of daybreak
in the slumbering summer

and I sit here surrounded

ready or not for this

Whoa! This one had me scratching my head, Emma. Still, you have expressed the disquiet that surounds us from time to time, with your usual flare.

You capture nature so vividly.
Really pretty poem, Emma.

To be so keenly aware as you are Emma, is to be in harmony. The changing seasons, like the times in which we live, are not to be lamented, but embraced.

Boomer said it best and I agree Miss Emma!

I heard the crickets chirping outside my window a couple nights ago, and a very few leaves have turned already. Not quite ready to let go of summer, but the seasons are going to turn regardless. Here we go....and stunning images!

Fantastic. Breathtaking wordplay. I love this.

Keep writing. You're insanely good at it.
