The silence of the broken night, A siren in the dark; I lay here with eyes wide open, Listening to a dog bark. But somewhere in my beating heart, Feels the presence to keep; Old memories are shining through, I smile and go to sleep. ©June 28, 2016 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

It's generally quiet in this little hamlet of houses where I am. Sometimes, I too hear the faint wail of a distant siren and I think of those that once were intended for me and also as an afterthought, those in my younger years that tried to tempt me to an early demise...and I will smile over my own mortality. Sleep well Jerry, you earned it...and keep smiling. Loving Linny Jean is poetry. |
