Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2016-07-23 08:31 AM

Come sit inside my head
and see what my lonesome is.
Locked inside all summer
From the sun and heat
I recline in my house
That should be clean and neat.
I’m off work for the summer,
I just do as I need.
I’m slow as a snail
and inside my shell I sleep.
I miss my friends.
I sleep in grief.
I miss myself
I realize as I write this.
I miss myself with my friend Rose.
With tears streaming I recall
loving to putter about my
ramshackle shack tending to my things.
Granted, I was younger then,
I no longer live in a shack,
but, I lost my love to putter.
I miss that kind of contented I was
before she died.

What a beautiful poem, Lori. Yes, sometimes when someone we care deeply about passes on, something within us dies also. I loved the poem.

She was a special person that had a way of making me laugh and pulling me outside of myself and making me a better person. Every so often it still makes me cry and it has been nearly 20 years. ~L

Its sad you still have such deep feelings about her passing, but it shows where your heart is that you cannot forget her.

Just ordered your book!

I'm having trouble with my debit card . . . Gotta wait until Monday and go to the bank about it. And oh! I know I will enjoy it.
