Meringue After quite a long while, that whipped cream kiss but a dollop off the shoulder In a feather touch that tensed her back as she followed its path, to peaks kept colder A requirement to simmer summer's reckon in A touch lighter than air Bright white, the apron's starch and attentively forward cover Berries burst in juicy streams, fold one upon another Peaks, that flaunt the sweetness of the vine, and now are mine to savor Summer tasted more than once in gladdened favor This sigh, a simple lullaby In time for summer's simmer, the rhythm of the porch swing The taste of your smile, and every moment worthwhile spent in the kitchen. I may risk your displeasure Miss Harris, but having such fondness for meringue, as do many of your readers I suspect, I prefer to read it as a long, engaging metaphor. Lovely to read...lovely to taste. More feelings and fewer words please |

This poem is rich with descriptive passages . . . My favorite is . . . "In a feather touch that tensed her back" ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
