Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Your silk is resilient and strong
its true.
When the light
is just right
some say you
are beautiful
covered in dew.
You hide in corners and edges
of ledges
and old sheds.
Every nuance reverberates through
your sensitive threads
as you wait
for what fate
might happen to bring you.
But if you succumb
to an intruder or the weather
and break a silken tether,
you flutter
shudder on the whim of the wind.
But somehow, some way,
you’re back again the very next day.
And I can see
how what you do
reminds me of you.
I’ve been told
I’m strong.
And just so long
as my tether’s hold,
I would agree.
And If the light
is just right
I can see I’m pretty.
I know I hide on the edges
deferring to be bold.
Too often I find myself clinging
to the worn out and the old.
I’m too quick to react
as all things seem to distract
my skin
so thin.
I’ve never been one
to seek out and acquire.
I wait for the world
to come trip my wire.
More than once
I’ve had a tether slip
and lost my grip.
I’ve collapsed in upon myself
shriveled and adrift.
And yet I find
with time,
some way
I come back
whole again
another day.

What an indepth write, Lori. Yes, for sure the spider and its web can project much wisdom if one only looks at them with the right attitude. You do understand how to put your words together, and when read, gives the reader so much satisfaction.

Aren't we all that way?  It takes a special person though to bounce back and start anew, and tuck the past away.

Loved this reflective write of yours, Lori.

JL,
Thanks for commenting on my self indulgence. People tell me I am strong but they don't know "my intruders" that send me shuddering.
Apparently it turned out to be poetry fodder.

Again, one of your best, my friend.  Especially enjoyed these (so true and applicable) lines.

"I’ve had a tether slip
and lost my grip.
I’ve collapsed in upon myself
shriveled and adrift.
And yet I find
with time,
some way
I come back
whole again
another day."
