"J'accuse |

"J'accuse Night provides the stage Broken skies through window glass Stab of lightening chains At the next drum roll the curtains open Let the nightmare commence ~ Eyelids flutter I hear her now Scuttling crabwise Across the halls of darkness The silver spider begins to spin her web ~ Sugar iced mountains reach to touch the stars A Curlew’s cry echoes across the wetlands The green fog fades and clears My lady sips her camomile tea And ponders on better days ~ On the dust road Passing figures cast no shadows In her torn dress she is waiting Blood rivulets trickle and drip "J'accuse, "J'accuse ~ A thousand Harpies inhabit my brain Picking over the strands memory To find the masking terror Mouthing a silent scream I struggle towards the light ~ Up through the spent years Slipping on my misdeeds A foothold here and there Provided by your love Closer now ~ The candyfloss of silken threads Tear and fall I hear the strains of a half remembered melody Somewhere in the swirling time mists Elvis sings again |

very interesting and powerful, il loved the ending with Elvis like a solacing mlofy after the turmoil J'accuse was the title of the newspaper L'aurore in the case of lOuis Freyfuss, a jewish officer of the french army who was destitued , it was written by Emile Zola... Thanks for your surprising and subtle poem |

Thank you for your comment on this piece and thank you again on recognizing the use of "J'accuse in the poem. It refers to recurring dreams that many ex-service men have so it’s nothing unique. In the dream the woman is always there, but as to why I have no explanation as I have never harmed any female. Thankfully the nightmare fades over the years. Cari. |
