(After reading Lori Grosser Rhoden's two poems about her daughter being the victim of Internet and physical bulling I decided to add my two cents worth on the bullying insanity.) how many teenagers have ended their lives when the bullying didn’t stop spiteful and vicious bullying is an epidemic within the school systems of America on Facebook, Twitter and other “social” Internet sites rumors get started and spreads like a wind-swept wildfire engulfing unsuspecting teenagers with a viciousness meant to ruin reputations bullying can get physical as well bullying can start because someone isn’t attractive or someone is too attractive however bullying begins it can devastate the victim she/he has no where to turn for relief for the most part and unless these victims have someone they can turn to they endure it alone the attacks become even more nasty the one bullied endures emotional scars which can’t be seen but which can destroy the victims ability to live normally with no outlet to fight back they retreat into dark places of themselves and sometimes make fatal choices bullying has to stop it is a horrible thing to put someone through mental wounds stay with them for many years it is the lucky ones who have someone to fight for them ©February 24, 2014 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ It's not that the man did not know how to juggle, he just didn't have the balls to do it. ~*~ |

It was just silly note passing during my own school days. It's hard for me to reckon with all I hear since I'm a guy. At the risk of conceit, I took no prisoners if someone was doing me bad. Kids today seem to be softer hits because their parents don't want them fighting and yet they allow them to be shipped off to war. The parents and the children seem to be stuck at a paradox that leaves them feeling powerless. If I were to suggest, I would say face off with the fools and find out what it is they really want. They must be confronted by both the child with the children and the parents with the parents. Everyone knows that real dangers exist today that simply weren't occurring a few moons back, but basically, dealing head-on with the perps is what it's going to take. A no nonsense approach with the aid of the school is preferable, but if that doesn't get the job done, I'd likely suggest a pre-emptive strike. Just my opinion mind you. I wish you all well. Very sorry to know your daughter and your family have this to deal with Lori. Parents sometimes are the last to know as children often feel they can't relate their feelings or are too embarrassed or frightened to tell anyone. What I know about it stems only from news stories and by then, it usually involves the tragic loss of a young life. Up front and personal 'bullying', to me, is a good deal different than online bullying. Young folks spend a lot more time on the net it seems and emotions run deeper when you're reading than when you're hearing or feeling. 'Nastygram' content bores into their head and festers like a cancer and parents are rarely sitting there reading along with them. Why would they? When feasible, some parents are homeschooling their children. The child's friendships are strictly physical and social sites are nixed. Internet use is for educational research only. This usually means a different level of lifestyle for some, but what price is too great to pay for the enlightening and security of children? When I was being schooled (which didn't take long...9-1/2 years)there was no net and kids dealt with each other differently, yada, yada and one more yada. Just another 'when I was' which you likely don't need to hear. To end this editorial, please accept my sincere wishes that this works out for the best and everyone involved settles easy in their mind, an amiable conclusion. Warm regards from Max, Bluesy, Marsh, or any other handle you wish to bestow. I'm still going to be a rose you know... Keep ing. ...just bein' Bluesy |

your support is heart warming and Jack I wish it was as simple as opening a can of whoop ass. We Don't (didn't) twitter until now that there is a (few) local teen "gosip" lines spewing filth and lies. Today is usually twinkie Tuesday for my daughter as she takes them for her friends. The twitter line has dubbed it 2$ Tuesday. Rumor has it there is something "planned" for today. She has already had Monopoly money thrown at her. For her just to show up at shcool today is a victory for her. I am proud of her. |
