Clair * * A chair, a table Dry-eyed despair Loneliness, almost tangible From a photograph She smiles at me Through remembered eyes ~ Youth in a forgotten summer Captured elegance in a white dress Long before my heart beat ~ Life reduced to whimsy Tranquillity in lazy humour Her armour against adversity Beauty worn with carelessness Demanding attention You blessed our world ~ Memories jostle for recognition Bedtime fairyland, a feather kiss To banish childhood fears ~ You left in the summer Before the winter of age Stole your loveliness ~ The padre, whose Stumbling words Announced your passing ~ We never said goodbye * * The second poem I wrote on the early death of my mother. |

Very tender and loving poetry from a good son. quote:Stunning to the marrow. If I were more than I am, I'd see things differently instead of the same all the time. |

Sometimes, our reciprocation of a mother's love comes too late. I trust your mother always knew of your love for her, as all who read your endearing poetry now do. More feelings and fewer words please |

Very nice, Cari. Wish my own mother could elicit such wonderful sentiments . . . ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
