After all the laughter in this house
after all the small forgotten tears
I can still remember all of my yesterdays
and the way you carried me through fear

you picked me up when I was weary
and the light from your eyes came to me
you never told me to go away
letting me tell you all of my deepest dreams
as the sun washes over the last of my thoughts
can you hear the far off silence of the song

take me home
to where the river makes me love
to where the moon is always dancing
and the stars never go from my heart
take me home
the river calls me back
to hold you close
never let my love go

when the years have little left for us
your beauty was with your touch
the lasting days I wanted to keep
so I could find you once more in my dreams
sitting on the porch in your swing
you reached for me

as I held on to you for those days
my heart left me for all the rage
I looked upon you as my best friend
leaving me to find this life again
and we kissed our last goodbye
I cried for you as I thought I die
yet knowing in the recess of my soul
I would see you once more

take me home
to where the river makes me love
to where the moon is always dancing
and the stars never go from my heart
take me home
the river calls me back
to hold you close
never let my love go
I will breathe again
when I can feel my peace
along the shores of my heart
with you holding me

Very vivid emotions in this romantic poem. Sad reminiscing, yet the heart still overflows with love and longing ... to be taken home.

I loved this read.

I don't often see a painting in my mind's eye as I read poetry, but this was one of those times when I did.

A most beautiful piece of poetry with all the color and form of the masters.

More feelings and fewer words please
