I stood alone
staring upward into the
blackness of night
and the millions
of stars looking down at me
I felt a wrench within my soul
calling attention
to the absolute fact that I was dead
dead, yes, but seeing my future
and hers
reincarnation isn't just a
fanciful figure of my imagination
no . . .
as I remained standing there
I felt a severe tug
within me
it said I was being reborn
I saw her face
she was waiting for me

Jerry, you are digging deep in this one.
Don't die because what I get from the drift of this piece is that she's loyal and waiting.
She'll wait a little longer.
A very interesting write. However, I've come to expect that of you.
Good work!!

Many thanks, Eric. Nope, I'm gonna hand around until I can't hang around anymore. Thank you.

In that other life after life, everyone is supposed to be perfect creatures, so when you meet her again it would be truly a reincarnation in the sense that there will be no more pain and sorrow

Yeah, you're right, jjote, that is what "they" say it will be like. But my thoughts are nothing like that. By reincarnation we will just be reborn again to a world much like the one we had left. I don't believe in a "perfect world." Thank you for stopping by . . .

In the quiet of night when one is alone with their thoughts, the stars, scattered within a moonless sky, speak to us and conjure images that our hearts and minds have held captive for so long. The beauty lies within...as the poets say. Your poetry always says it well Jerry.

More feelings and fewer words please

Yeah, you're right, Ari, when we are alone with ourselves in the hush of the night, our thoughts captures us quite vividly. Thank you.

How beautiful, this pull that you felt so strongly within, dear Jerry. The belief of continuity of life and rebirth no doubt diminishes the pain of loss of the special ones in our lives.

Excellent.
