springtime child,
grandmother wishing
to be taken up there,
towards the end

true, we gave you
a very proper funeral,
even a Greek church
like you had requested

but what concerns me most,
do you still love me
there, in the happy place
you're in

look down, dear mother
sing these words
if you believe them:
"my son will always love me—
poem after poem,
his heart reveals it"
