[just reinventing an old freeverse poem posted at Corner Pub I think - Jerry, you've got me hooked on villanelles, honing it some more]
"sunset and evening star, and one clear call for me"
Dusk settles in, bruising the sky purple I fear not what is beyond the unknown, I will soar high and bold like an eagle
winds may shake the trees until they tremble while the birds fly in aimless abandon dusk settles in, bruising the sky purple.
gloom takes control over dreams of people relentless pursuit of ambitions lost I will soar high and bold like an eagle
ocean breakers a gray restless curdle but stars will shine and lighten the heavens dusk settles in, bruising the sky purple
in a secret garden stands a temple there I shall follow a flock of swallows I will soar high and bold like an eagle.
I won't find it hard to pack up my life find my nesting place when I hear that call dusk settles in, bruising the sky purple I will soar high and bold like an eagle.
