Winter’s snow and ice exit early, leaving a spring-like balm to coax buds and blossoms into baring their heads to a chance of a late cold snap. Hard to imagine an ice storm on a windy seventy degree afternoon. It happens all too often, fruit tree’s buds encased in ice coffins and blossoms bent and brown littering the ground. Nothing is safe until after mid April rolls around. |

Ah . . . Those buds are nice and safe down here in tha deep south, don't ya know, Lori. I can't remember when we had the last freeze. We had a VERY mild winter. Wishing you a beautiful spring. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Aside from the usual March wind it has been nice here too. But for Kansas we aren't out of the woods for a possible freeze till April 18th. That's why I hate to see the warm come so early, a late freeze can really do some damage. Hopefully the winds will calm down a bit next week for Spring Break. ~L |

In England we welcome the few daffodils that brave the despairing skies and the inquiring hedgerow creatures who sniff the east wind and scuttle back down their burrows. I envy your spring Lori. Cari |

right you are there Lori, and I thought nice weather are here at last, but oh Lordy, why is it still so cold and windy. I am not safe, I have to snuggle inside my blanket/s and not dare to poke my head out. |
