I took a solo flight one day
Looking at the world as my prey
I enjoyed this great land's bouquet
I just made hay, I just made hay

My wandering gave me some thrills
I traveled valleys, climbed some hills
I met some sweethearts, Jan's and Jill's
N'er paid the bill, N'er paid the bill

An existentialist soul was I
There was not much I would not try
Most things I did was on the sly
Shadowy love, shadowy love

Got by on my wits and street smarts
I sucker-punched life a la carte
Young, looking good, I played the part
Cool, but a fool, cool, but a fool

I was a broken shallow bowl
Living life on the edge; no goal
I dug myself into a hole
My soul was dead, my soul was dead

A rebel with or without cause
I flaunted myself and the law
I went through life with no applause
Arrogant flaws, arrogant flaws

Married thrice, and had children three
Went to the joint, refused to plead
There for four years, wanted to flee
Then found the key, then found the key

It was there I started to write
It took some time to make it right
When my first novel was in site
I was then hooked, I was then hooked

Now my life is writing my words
To do anything else? Absurd.
Hope I'll stay in front of the herd
I can still write, I can still write

I can still write, I can still write

Of course you can, what more can I say, well just this, it’s the best I’ve read from you------so far.

Cari.

Yes, you can still write and do it well with a type of honesty that I personally enjoy.

There's no one without a skeleton in a closet here and there but you have drawn them out and clothed them with reason...
Good stuff! I enjoyed it very much!

"I can still write, I can still write"

And it shows  a still signifcant life, one of purpose, and meaning, even after all the troubeling things that came before that realization, in the poem.

" I think, therefore I am"  -Descartes

Jerry writes, therfore he am...ice

"Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance."

Many thanks, Eric. I sometimes think I expose too much of myself.
