I sang of sixpence as a child
        The song made all the girls go wild
Just one standard was all it took
        No great need for a music book
When I wanted the girls to smile
        I sang of sixpence as a child

(...pass the cheese dip!)

I remember that song! I have it in a book of
Children's Classics. Jeeze... I just realized my book is an antique. Thanks Marsh Mellow

Antique stores used to be such fun. I stopped going to them though, when everything I saw looked new.

The oldest thing in the shop was reflecting from a wall mirror.

...any of that dip left?

Sing a song of sixpence,
A pocket full of rye.
Four and twenty blackbirds,
Baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened,
The birds began to sing;
Wasn't that a dainty dish,
To set before the king?
The king was in his counting house, Counting out his money;
The queen was in the parlour,
Eating bread and honey.
The maid was in the garden,
Hanging out the clothes,
When down came a blackbird
And pecked off her nose

For old times sake

I aint as good as I once was but I'm as good, once, as I ever was. - Toby Keith

Old times indeed Walter!

That catchy little tune was a lot of fun.  I originally posted it on one of Balladeer's challenge threads. I can embellish it musically a little more these days, but its never the same as it was. I guess few things are. It's even become harder to get the girls to smile.

Maybe it's my non-scented denture cream. I'll have to look into that.

Many thanks!
