I hear angels in the rain
just a call I can't explain,
memories always worth the time when I'm alone.

Dare I forget so easily
what Cupid's arrows did for me
though I lost them then they still linger now.

Walkin in the heat and wet
I can't forget with no regrets
Angels in the rain
Between the drops I hear my name
I see them clearly now.

What's done is done but still I feel
the broken arrows that never heal
and there's no easy cure for them but time.

So now I must keep on my way
after all I never stay
and though I've made mistakes I weep divine.

Walkin in the heat and wet
I can't forget with no regrets
Angels in the rain
Between the drops I hear my name
I see them clearly now

walkin in the heat and wet
with angels in the rain
They keep callin my name
Angels in the rain

Enjoyed the poetry, great write.
This verse seemed to be the bridge connecting thoughts through those times.

Damn fine writing, Eric. I have never been fortunate enough to hear those angels in the rain. I think I know why, they refuse to associate with me. That's cool. Heh.Heh But I do love a good rain.

Eh . . . Maybe the rain is playing my song, but I'm just too tone deaf to recognize it.

I really enjoyed this read.

Thank for the kind words Jerry.
Oh I think those angels in the rain talk to everyone some time or other.
Hehe I don't know whether you're tone deaf or not but it doesn't matter, I think you've heard those angels before.
Song's about a guy that likes to drift from town to town but always gets involved with a woman and he always ends up liking, almost loving her but just can't settle down, it's not in him.
He feels bad because he's hurt some wonderful people but also knows he wouldn't be the best thing for them.
Hitchhiking along the road it starts to rain and he starts to reflect on them.....

As a song it works good if you can get the timing the way I wrote the music.

Thanks for the visit.

What a wonderful way to live the experience of walking in the rain, dear Eric!

I am sure this song will melt many a heart when you'll sing it!

Just beautiful!

I'd like to hear Don Williams sing this, e

Nice lyrics, in the true country fashion, not the pickup with the confederate flag on the aerial, and the bed full of beer cans stuff...:-)

Thanks for the post.

a great poem, the angels in the rain can be memories or thoughts, they can be voices of loved ones, the poem has a real and deep voice, thanks

Margherita
I agree, there's something about walking in the rain that brings out the sad reflections from the past.
Tried to capture that in song but it's a hard one.
Always appreciate your wonderfully perceptive, kind replies.

Thanks Ice.
True enough it doesn't have all those things.
Tried my best to capture the emotion.
Is Don Williams still alive. Wow!
Hey, I agree, I'd love to hear him sing it for a lot of reasons.

Thanks again Eric

Yann, what a nice perceptive reply.
I like how you mention a deep voice.
That's what I was trying to capture, that voice from within.
Thank you.
