Her heart was a locket,
That hung inside her breast;
A walk along the shore,
The pipers spreading.

The baubel heart held dual sparks;
Unlike the birds that separate
-she can-not stay away the traces ...
Of two faces, from her mind.

Her longing is strong ,
But she can-not choose
Between the two, and gains
No peace from passing time-
No ease-
Is felt, like after ones delete...

--the birds all gather back -
Regroup, behind
--she walks alone, along the beach.

The two have claimed they love her too,
Both, with minds-enraged, their thoughts
Are set afire..with jealousies-inflamed
But she reiterates- exclaims...
"I love you both the same."

Sea air breaks sobriety, once drunk
Spreads morphine vapors.
And for a while she-becomes intoxicated;

Thoughts and brine ,came-ashore on waves
Foxfire- greens and grays illuminate their crest
With opaque signs.. lettered by the sea.

Two faces raise up in the chop, a him and him,
Both floating close apart-in bobbing vessels-
Hailing as they sail the breaks, that crash..
They cry

Her name, their voices break,
A stammer
In their speech (one pleads)
"please come with me" (the other)
"let me your love be."

Both were sung in cosmic tune,
One octave higher than the norm,
Is heard above the water-song,
Of crashing waves.
.
Three hearts, three lives, make an entangle,
A treble knot, ensnarled,
By ropes of passion;
All became susceptible,
To pain---By loves rejection.

She tried so hard to solve the riddle:

What does one do, when one loves two?.

And though she looked to solve the plight,
Enigma still remained.

Really like your thought process in this sad, sad plight. It seems that although he loved two, he came away with neither. I've been up close and personal with this kind of situation, and it is brutal!

"You examine the emotions well and offer no solution" Thank you, Lori..sometimes there is no solution...part of the human condition, I guess.

Thank you Jerry..
" I've been up close and personal with this kind of situation"

You might write about that "situation" sometime...I would like to see a first hand take on the reality of it.

I made this poem up by looking at the picture, and my imagination.

"Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance."
Carl Sandburg
