"gotta be a poem in there someplace" Just look above this line and you will see one... Gritty, but not too raw...your subject does not cross over the line in the poem, like Bukowski did much of the time...I like that too...but you do get your point across when you tell the tales of life on your particular street. |

Bukowski was one of a kind in his day. I admire most of his work. I've had people tell me I copied his lifestyle and his method of writing. They were wrong, especially that I copied his lifestyle. Hell, I never heard of the man until I was finally out of the street scene. As far as copying his method of writing they could be right, at least somewhat. When I finally began reading Bukowski I really did enjoy his unpolished poetry in real life. Anyway, thank you for stopping by, Ice, I appreciate it. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Jerry I didn't imply that you were in any way copying Bukowski..I just meant that your style of writting is similar to his. But not always, I believe his range was limited by his sticking to the grit of the street...which is fine with me..but sometimes you need to write about other things..Which you do. Old Charlies poetry just came to my mind when I read this piece. Thank you for your poem. [This message has been edited by ice (12-29-2015 08:04 PM).] |

Ice, I never thought that you implied I was copying Bukowski . . . That never once entered my mind. Truly. But for sure my poetry, especially the street poetry I write is similar to his style. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

sometimes like me, I outlived 2 of the kids I went to school with and both of them were in car crashes. Your a lucky guy Jerrypat2 that your still around to say so. I hope you will be the last to go! It was just a thought which made them run. It was just an act that killed them. |
