Sculpted as a labor of love My hands feel no humans' touch Still, I reach out to the one who loves me Rain disperses souls of hidden features Who come on Sunday afternoons Praying upon me to ease their pain Pitiful wretches, one after others Those who have a life Yet come to me for an answer to their prayers Prostrating themselves beneath me Believing the spirit in themselves Cannot be seen without me Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me! |

quote: Extremely poignant and wise. We love representations and no doubt this desire has alimented art of all kinds. Yet, as you express so beautifully in the last stanza, when we look inside, spirit opens to us like a lotus flower and through its fragrance we inhale truth and immerse in Love without any intermediation. First morning read and it will linger, Mr. Martini! Margherita ![]() |

Wise thoughts to contemplate this early morning. Icon of Stone indeed. ~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~ |

Kind sir, Some of us wretches are more miserable than others and are grateful for your soothing balm. ~L |

quote:If "Icons of Stone" could talk Mr. Martini, they may very well say what your poetry says. Maybe you did overhear something, I can see that. 88's friend ![]() She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

Perhaps a statue? The wailing wall? A gargoyle of some sort? A brick bank building, or other false idols? I like the mystery...Thank you MM "Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance." |

A statue in a cemetery Mr. Hume, but you made me wish it was a "brick bank building". Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me! |

Why do I feel inclined to defend those 'poor wretched' souls. Praying to the statues that represented their God. They reach out to a symbol to find peace within them. Some souls are stronger, they go to their inner God for salvation. Others need an 'instrument'.Perhaps they have not yet found the strength within themselves. You are a careful observer of life, Mr. M. Sometimes I feel you are a bit 'harsh'. Love your work though ... a lot |

who wants to pray to a hunk of stone, not me. I pray sometimes but not enough but when I do its to Jesus and I can't touch him like you can a stone! It was just a thought which made them run. It was just an act that killed them. |
