A bit of Saturday night whimsical thoughts in the hearts and minds of the Louisiana Cajun dialect . . . Oh, da moon looks so strange It's a harvest moon night don't'ja'know Dat moon is blood red On a Louisiana Saturday Night Down at Jolie Blon's Lagniappe Smell that crawfish boiling in dat pot Don’t forget to add dem taters and garlic, sha Close dat screen door, flies are getting out Peoples startin' ta do a little jitterbugging On da hardwood floor Saturday night time to let it all hang loose Been working hard fa da whole damn week Shoulder to dat wheel, grindstone up the . . . Dat hot grease jest about right Be throwing in some sac-a-lait soon Fry 'em up nice and brown and take 'em out Foot tapping zydeco, accordion and rub-board Gets dem feets ta flying, sha Forgettin' about ya trouble And the little misses done come up with child again Can't hardly feed da ones ya got But tonight it's laissez les bon temps rouler Along with the fried sac-a-lait We shimmy and shake, shoulders rollin' Hips a-swaying and soon the band breaks Into some slow, getting' ta know yo partner better Kinda music Been dancing to the hot licks zydeco all night long Time for some Louisiana two-step Head on shoulder kind of relaxing music Where my honey whispers in my ear When I get you home, sha I'm gonna fricassee ya lovin' tool down to nuttin' Then start all over again AAieee!!! My brown-skinned honey's lovin' was Battered and prime time Ah, ya, Saturday Night at Jolie Blon's Lagniappe ©October 31, 2015 / Jerry Pat Bolton [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (12-26-2015 09:45 AM).] |

You got the atmosphere across in a very colorful way, Jerry. Sometimes this kind of gatherings allows people to reload their batteries, when heavy worries exhaust them, just as you say. Sadness of harsh reality comes back the morning after to take one back into its grip, but a moment of recreation can also have its healing effects, at least temporarily. ![]() Margherita |

Ahhh . . . Many thanks for your thoughts concerning "Jolie Blon's Lagniappe," Margherita. For sure letting off some steam is a natural way to put you back in the groove and restart yourself. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Oh Yea! that is som good one, Mr. Jerry. I love American dialects..honest, pure, diverse, and spoken from the heart. This one has it all.. Reminds me of an old Don Williams song...:-) Keep 'em comin' Mr. Jerry "Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance." |

Fun post JerryPat with a highlight right up my street. 'Zydeco' music! I still have some old Clifton Chenier recordings that knock my socks every time I play them! Fantastic! 88's friend ![]() She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

Yep, I like Chenier too, but Buckwheat Zydeco is the one who does it for me. Thank you Ticklefingers, for your very nice comment. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |
