She reads the Christmas cards again Oh dear, only four this year Still the young ones have so much to do Hope they like the little presents I wish that I could have afforded more ~ Nearly time for church She opens the old leather purse Carefully counting the coins For the collection plate Puts on her hat and coat ~ She picks up the photo frame Fingers the face behind the glass and smiles through the tears Now you are gone my love Why am I still here? Author's Notes: Christmas is not a joyful occasion for everyone. |

No, its not always joyful. Memories of Christmases enjoyed with loved ones' now gone are painful to endure, especially if one now finds themselves alone without a supportive and caring family. Reach out if you know someone or even see someone who is alone and let your humanity shine as bright as a Christmas star. 88's friends She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

"Reach out if you know someone or even see someone who is alone and let your humanity shine as bright as a Christmas star". A good reply that must upstage a good piece of poetry. Bravo Mr. Fingers and to you Cari. Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me! |
