Cold Soup and Jelly~

"It's comin' on Christmas,
they're cuttin' down trees,
they're putting up reindeer,
singing songs of joy and peace,
and I wish I had a river
I could skate away on"

Ever felt that way...

Tired of the heart-slaps
to this old spirit,
time has table-spooned me as soup
from a large speckled blue stock pot,
the thought used to be so warm
and satisfying.

A tear escapes,
I hide it behind my scarf
and think of silver blades
owning crisp air, a clean get-away.

Oh..for a cool cloth to a fevered mind,
fingers warmed by hot breath,
or just someone licking grape jelly
as it spilled to my chin..

that's all,

yet everything.

"a large speckled blue stock pot"

I haven't seen one of these for awhile and I really don't know why. Maybe I need to spend more time in other peoples' kitchens. Ox-tail soup was on our table regularly in a pot like yours, loaded with all manner of vegetables and potatoes.

I always enjoy your stories rainyj.

Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me!

You have me involved in this vision, dear Jan., always skating is my idea of perfection of elegance and harmony and freedom and and ... yes escape from all the worldly things.

Christmas is spent too much at the tables, probably, we are so in need of "lighter" nourishment.

Excellent write.

Love and peace.

Music can be a strong muse..

you listen well, and write well by lyrical inspiration.

Heh.Heh Now that's a picture in my mind, and if I concentrate hard enough I can even taste that grape jelly. Yummy!
